A set on a shelf does none of that. We would rather be honest about it and put our effort into materials that support long, uninterrupted play than into claims about outcomes we cannot see from here.

Two things age: the clarity of the panel and the tightness of the welds. Clarity goes with abrasion, which is why we care about the hardness of a surface as much as the colour of it. Welds go with heat cycling and with force applied at the corners. Neither shows up in a first-week impression, which is exactly why we specify to them rather than to how a set looks coming out of the box.
How we test our products
Our rigorous testing protocol ensures every set is safe and durable. Before reaching customers, products undergo a multi-stage evaluation. We also test the least glamorous thing about any building set, which is how it gets put away. A set that only fits back in its box when sorted by shape does not get put away — it ends up in a tub, which is fine, but it changes what the pieces have to survive. So we test tiles after being tipped, poured and dug through repeatedly rather than only after careful stacking, and we check that a tub-worth of tiles does not lock into an unusable magnetic slab at the bottom. Anything that survives only being treated tidily is not really a children's toy.
